His Holiness 1008 Sri Sugunendra teertha Swamiji of Sri Puttige Matha assumed Sanyasa (renouncement) at the tender age of 12 and was brought up filially, spiritually and intellectually by the epoch-making personality of Sri Sri vidyamany Teertha swamiji who is also the mentor of Sri Vishwesha Teertha Swamiji, a visionary and zealous reformist of our times. Sri Sugunendra Teertha Swamiji acquired deep insight into religious, cultural, and vedic heritage of India during the course of study of shastras, extending over a decade under the legendary tutorship of Sri Vidyamany Teertha Swamiji. At a relatively early age he longed to reach to the devout public and take the message of Sri Madhwacharya through publications. Sri Vidyamany Teertha Swamiji was pleased to know this humble ambition of his worthy disciple, and blessed him to go ahead. Thus started ‘Suguna Mala’, the kannada monthly magazine, way back in the year 1986 and was released by the most sacred hands of Sri Vidyamany Teertha Swamiji. Heartened by the abundant pleasure of the readers Sri Sugunendra teertha Swamiji thought of extending the scope of Suguna Mala by publishing ‘Suguna Digest’ in English. Under the able Guidance of the most celebrated scholor of the orient Sri Bannanje Govindacharya, and under the editorship of Sri M Rajagopalacharya “Suguna Digest” was started in the most appropriate circumstances. “Suguna Digest” was meant to propogate the culture, religion and the tenets of Hinduism and the first issue was released by His Excellency the king Beerendra of Nepal, the only Hindu Nation of the world, in the year 1988 in the presence of His Holiness Sri vidyamany Teertha Swamiji on the occasion of “Sarva Dharma Sammelana” (all religions’ conference) held at Nepal.
Suguna Digest has come a long way as a quarterly all these years, playing a subordinate role to Suguna Mala Kannada Monthly. It was realized of late, that the people with longing, and diaspora for Madhwa philosophy are spread all over the world and Taking the message of Madhwa philosophy to them in English was gaining more and more significance. In this context Sri Sugunendra teertha Swamiji decided to make Suguna Diest a monthly magazine after his Annual Darshan Of Lord Venkateshwara at Tirumala on the Historic Day of 12-12-12 Kartik Amavasya. Accordinly Suguna Digest is reaching out to the devout Public as Monthly periodical from January 2013 onwards.
